A Feilding Civil Claim

CONTRACTOR SUES OROUA COUNTY COUNCIL

The Feilding Magistrate’s Court sat on Tuesday evening to conclude the hearing of a civil action in which Frederick Wm. Pearce, contractor, ot Feilding, sued the Oroua County Council for £6B 10s 2d, being the balance alleged to be due for carting work done under contract for the defendant council.

After hearing lengthy evidence which in the main had to do with the rates of pay payable on highways work where such work was subject to the Main Highway Board subsidy, the Magistrate (Mr. R. M. Watson, S.M.) gave judgment for plaintiff for £l3 11s Gd with £5 Is costs.

Mr. Rolling, of Palmerston North, appeared for the plaintiff and Mr. D. H. Mclnnes, of Feilding, for defendant council.
