A World Tour by Car

Four Johannesburg men have set out on a world tour by motor car. The adventure started with a modest tour of tho Union, when three of tho men S. Goldberg, formerly of London and the Congo; A. Elelstein, described as a Hungarian student with a flair for photography; and H. Mcllct, a South African—sot out in a Hillman Wizard. Later they were joined by H. Kunz, a Swiss mechanic, and a second Hillman, on tho real business of “conquering Africa” as the first stage of circumnavigating the globe. Together tho four men claim mastery of eleven languages. . Their route through Africa from Johannesburg is via Victoria Falls and Broken Hill to Eiizabethvillc, and then due west through tho Congo to Angola and northwards to Dakker, tho last British outpost on tho North-West coast. If, as seems likely, they aro unable to find a way further north along tho coast, they will proceed. to Timbuctoo, and follow the recognised road to Gao and across tho Sahara to Algiers. Their intention is to •go to England and to proceed through Europe and to tho Near East to Palestine, and overland to Karachi and India. Since this portion of the trip is remote, t-heir plans are vague, but they speak of 'continuing through Asia to America.
