The hospital authorities last evening reported that thero was still no change in the condition of Squadron-Leader M. C. McGregor, who Tvas injured at Milson aerodrome recently. The following students of the Palmerston North Technical School have passed tho entrance examination for Government shorthand-typist: Senior: Miss 11. if. Richards; junior, Misses F. M. Burrows, JL F. Ansin And M. J. Mills. Out of 30 applicants, tho board of governors of tho Palmerston North High Schools has selected Miss Jean Rennie, M.A., of Oamaru, as assistant teacher in general subjects at the Technical School. Miss Rennie will commence her duties after the Christmas vacation. Sir Henry Buckleton, general manager of tho Bank of New Zealand, coihplcted 54 years’ service with the bank yesterday. Ho joined tho bank’s Sydney branch as a boy in .1878, and his salary was then £SO per annum. His first post as manager was at tho Now Plymouth branch. In 1906 he was appointed manager at Auckland, and in 1920 he -was appointed general manager. Sir Henry was knighted in 1929 for distinguished services in banking in New Zealand. At the Russell Street School yesterday morning oportunity was taken to farewell Misses D. Bcrndston and K. Park, assistants, who are leaving the school. Mr. F. ’C. Campbell, headmaster, on behalf of the remainder of tho staff, paid a tribute to tho ability of both of the departing teachers, presenting Miss Berndtson, who is going to Fiji, with a leather bag, and also Miss Park with a token of esteom. It it confidently anticipated that the services of the latter will bo secured again next yoar.
