District Competition For Export Lambs
Farmers in the district should make a point of reading the conditions on page 1 of this issue relating to the district competition for export lambs. Last year Manawatu gained the. proud distinction of providing the winning exhibit, and a special appeal is being made to all to enter this competition in an earnest endeavour to retain fo. the district the challenge shield. Local iudging will be carried out at the Longburn freezing works on Wednesday, November 30, and first, second and third prizes will bo given to the successful exhibitors. The best io pens will then be forwarded to London to take part in the North Island district competition for export lambs. It behoves every farmer in this district to give of his best and assist to win the challenge shield again. Last year a magnificent display was provided at tao Smithficld market, and the Dominion (with the Manawatu district in particular) received a splendid advertisement in consequence. This year it is hoped to eclipse last year’s effort, and the cooperation of all farmers is required to bring the competition to a higher stani dard. Entries close with the secretary of the Av and P. Association, Box 85, at noon on Wednesday next, and thoso who -have not yet entered arc asked to get their entries in without delay.
