Ceremony of Interest To Many Country Folk
SHAW—STANTON A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnised at the Palmerston North Baptist Church recently when Clylhu Muriel, youngest daughter oi : Mr. auu Mrs. James Stanton, of “The Willows," Pohangiua, was married to Keginald Bruce, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. JT. Shaw, of Mt. Albert, Auckland. The church had been artistically decorated for the occasion with lilies arid spring flowers by friends of the bride. The bride, who entered the church on the' arm of her father, made a charming picture in her ankle-length frock of ivory crepe georgotte made with long tight fitting pin-tuckcd bodice and the skirt flaring from the knees. The lovely oval veil of Brussells lace was caught at either side of the head with a circlet of orange blossom, the graceful folds forming a train. She also wore white satin shoes and stockings to tone and carried a lovely- bouquet of likes of the valley, pale pink and white roses and maidenhair fern finished with long tulle streamers. ■ She was attended by her sister, Miss V. Stanton, who looked sweet in a model gown of pomegranate georgette and lace with shoes to tone. She wore a black picture hat of Italian straw trimmed with a wreath of velvet flowers and carried a pretty bouquet of ranunculi and spikes of heuchera with maidenhair fern. The bride’s small niece, Miss Lynette Drummond, made a dainty little flower girl,in a frock of primrose frilled georgette hand embroidered in blue with bonnet to match and carrying a small posy of banksea roses, and forget-me-nots. The bridegroom was supported by Mr. E. Bruce Levy, of Palmerston North, as best man. The Bev. 0. S. Matthews was the officiating clergyman and the service wa3 choral, Mrs. Matthews presiding at the organ. As the bride left the church she was presented with a floral horse shoe by hor nephew, Master Errol Drummond. The reception was held at Messrs Gollinson and' Cunninghame's where the tables were very daintily decorated in trio colour scheme of the bridal party, the beautiful three-tiered wedding cake being decorated in tones of cream am. gold. Mr. and Mrs. Stanton received their guests, the latter wearing a gown of navy crepe de chine relieved witli biege frilled net and navy hat trimmed with velvet flowers. She carried a bouquet of apricot flowers and maidenhair fern. Mrs. Shaw, mother of the bridegroom, wore grey floral marocain with a black hat and carried a bouquet of red roses and maidenhair fern. The beautiful bouquets were made and presented by Mrs. B. Port, cousin of the bride. At the reception the bridesmaid contributed a charming vocal solo entitled “My Prayer." Later the happy couple loft for the south, the bride wearing a smart ensemble of Lido blue flecked tweed with chip straw hat to match. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Shaw will make their future homo in Auckland.
