Alleged to Have Given Cyanide to His Brother
SHIP’S STEWARD ARRESTED
United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Tuesday, 9.0 p.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 15. George Champion, a ship’s steward, was arrested on a charge of endangering the life of his brother, Charles Edward Champion, aged 30, a recent arrival from Now Zealand, by causing him to consumo cyanide.
The pair attended a city theatre last night, and Charles Champion told t.:m police that his brother bought a bottle of lemonade during the interval and brought it into the theatre, from which Charles consumed about half, and then became ill. Detectives ascertained that the lemonade contained cyanide, and arrested George Champion to-day. Detective Arnold, giving evidence, said that the brothers recently quarrelled. Charles possessed a lot of money, and George only a few shillings. Accused was remanded until November 24.
