ANNOUNCEMENT BY MR COATES

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night.

Kt. Hon. J. G. Coates announced to-night that it was hoped, as a reuult of the operation of a scheme now being evolved between himself and departmental officers, to place 10,000 men on the land as an unemployment relief measure. The mimediate objective would be the absorption of 5000. Two committees were set up today, one to devise a plan regarding the use of small dairy farms, and the other to prepare legislation giving effect to the proposals.
