Severe Cyclonic Storm
EAST-WEST COMMUNICATIONS BROKEN. GABLE SERVICE REQUISITIONED United Press Association—By Electric ■Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, Oct. 31. The Telegraph Department reports that the most serious breakdown for year* was caused by a cyclonic storm which damaged sections of line of both the East-West railway service and the Telegraph Department, in the neighbourhood of the South Australian border.
The Eastern Cable Company’s cable between Adelaide and Western Australia i 3 being used to assist to overcome the difficulties until the telegraph is sufficiently restored, after nearly 40 hours’ strenuous work to overtake the traffic.
Beports from Adelaide state that a disturbance with a spectacular thunderstorm passed over the city on Saturday night. Though the wind was not of a velocity of more than 32 miles per hour, a house at Torrensville was unroofed by the unusual eddy.
Warning to Shipping Beceived Monday, 11.0 p.m. SYDNEY, Oct. 31. The State Meteorologist (Mr. Mares) has warned shipping that a very severe disturbance is moving eastward from the south-eastern corner of Australia and ib expected to cause gales, with rough to high iseas, south from latitudo SO degrees.
