Severe Cyclonic Storm

The Telegraph Department reports that the most serious breakdown for year* was caused by a cyclonic storm which damaged sections of line of both the East-West railway service and the Telegraph Department, in the neighbourhood of the South Australian border.

The Eastern Cable Company’s cable between Adelaide and Western Australia i 3 being used to assist to overcome the difficulties until the telegraph is sufficiently restored, after nearly 40 hours’ strenuous work to overtake the traffic.

The State Meteorologist (Mr. Mares) has warned shipping that a very severe disturbance is moving eastward from the south-eastern corner of Australia and ib expected to cause gales, with rough to high iseas, south from latitudo SO degrees.
