From Our Own Correspondent.

Mr. H. V. Caverhill presided over a good attendance at a meeting of the committee of the Rongotca and District Horticultural Socioty] on Thursday evening. The purpose of the meeting was to dccido tho advisability of continuing to hold shows. The report of the last show was not too favourable, there being a deficit in the working account. After a lengthy discussion it was decided to suspend operations until the autumn show, thereby cutting out tho summer show, which it had been intended to hold next month. Farmers are reminded of the Farmers’ Challenge Cup for competition at the autumn show for farm, roots. A substantial cash prize has also been donated, to be won with the cup. Mrs. H. Grubner, of Lower Hutt, is the guest of Mrs. J. Gloyn, scar.
