Steam Driven Car
There is a story that when the petroldriven car was just making its way into popular favour, an efficient steamdriven car was invented, but the plana were bought by certain interests and destroyed. The idea of a steam-driven car has persisted, and now one of Germany’s leading automobile factories has been testing a steam-propelled car which in outward appearance lOoks like an ordinary motor-car. Under a longer hood is housed a miniature high-pres-sure boiler capable of producing a pressure of 100 atmospheres. The fourcylinder steam engine is mounted over the rear axle. The .car needs po gears and in tests is said -to have developed a speed of 90 miles an hour. The exhaust steam is condensed and in this way the same water can be used for 3000 miles. Electricity ignites the petrol fuel and within a minute tho water reaches booling point,
