Magistrate's Court
FAILED TO ACCOUNT Before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court yesterday G. W. A. Pickering was charged that, on or about September 3, at Feilding, having received £1 ISs from P. J. Tierney on terms requiring him to account for or pay the same to Condy and Co., Ltd., he did fraudulently omit to account for same to Condy and Co., thereby committing theft. There was a similar charge in rospect of £2 17s 3d received from J. Hansen at Kimbolton. Detective Russell stated that accused was appointed representative of ■Condy and Co., and had failed to account for the money. Accused pleaded guilty to both charges, and in reply to the Magistrate had nothing to say, The Magistrate pointed out that accused was still on probation for a previous offence, and evidently the leniency had not done him much good. He (the Magistrate) could not grant probation in the present cases and he sentenced accused to one month’s imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be cumulative.
