Thero was a good attendance of card and dancing enthusiasts for the euchre party and daneo held in the Hukanui Hall on Saturday night, September 3, to augment tho funds of the Miniature Rifle Club. The early portion of the evening was devoted to cards, and an interesting competition found Mesdames C. E. Eddio and T. C. Golder the first and second prize-winners in the ladies’ section, and Messrs. T. Edge and d. Parker in the men’s section. The floor was then cleared and dancing was engaged in, Mr. W. C. Coster acting as M.C., while the music was supplied by Mrs. W. Twentyman and Misses E. Eddie and V. Edge. An enjoyable supper was served by the ladies of the club. There was an excellent attendance at the final monthly cucliro party and dance held in the Ivakariki schoolroom on Saturday night last. Those functions havo proved very popular during the winter months, and many will look forward to their continuance next year. Prizes in the men’s section were won ,by Messrs. W. Twentyman and N. L. I R. Udy, and in the ladies’ section by Airs. A. Parker and Miss O. Harrington. After 10 o’clock tho floor was cleared and dancing was carried on until midnight brought a most enjoyable social evening to a close.
