-THE BEGGAR STUDENT" The fascinating, sparkling charm possessed by old Vienna is exemplified in the latest British Dominions Him to emerge from the English studios ot this progressive company, in the shape of “Tho Beggar Student,” the Viennese operetta which has charmed millions with its appealing music, rollicking choruses and catchy tunos. The modern version of this famed operetta will bo presented at the Tivoli theatre tonight, and tho patrons of this theatre are warned that if they miss the production they will have missed the movie classic of 1932, as on account of its immensity and tho enormous expense incurred in gathering such a large band of famous artists together cau never be hoped to be repeated. An immense cast of stage and screen celebrities includes Banco Fairfax, the charming “Hod Shadow” in "The Desert. Song,” a musical comedy which had a successful season in the Dominion not. so long ago, and who occupies the stellar role as Carl lioniaine, tho “Beggar Student.” His voice is a revelation as far as the sound screen is concerned, and its like has never before been equalled hero by stars who have visited our shores per stage or ween. Shirley Dale, the beautiful
operatic star, who possesses looks plus a personality that makes her the finished artist for such a role as she is allotted to in this production, ir> the feminine lead. Mark Daly, as the singing sergeant, with Jerry Varno, supplies the lighter vein without which no film is complete. There arc no* many talking pictures to-day that can boast the title of being a John Jfnrvei production, but this greatest living authority on motion picture direction handled the megaphone in the making of "The Beggar Student.”
