“Arms and the Man”

To-night in the Opera House the world-famous comedy, “Arms and the Man,” will be presented by a capablo cast of W.E.A. players. This famous comedy has proved the xnost popular of Shaw’s many plays, and a large audience is expected to witness its presentation to the public of Palmerston North. Shaw is unquestionably the greatest of living dramatists, and the opportunity of witnessing ono of the best of bis plays will not be missed by lovers of the theatre and of the drama. The play is deservedly popular and will make an instant appeal to all who witness to-night’s production. It is rich in the brilliant satire and subtle humour which is typical of its author. A strong cast has been selected to interpret the comedy. Mrs. Linda Bennett, who has achieved outstanding success in all her previous appearances, will bo entrusted with the role of Raina. Miss Marjorie Cranston, a performer of no mean ability, will portray Catherine. This part was to have been priiyed by Miss Ashton, but owing to her illness Miss Cranston has taken the part at short notice, and her experience will enable her to give a faithful interpretation. Miss Aisla Vareoe, -Who promises to become an actress of distinction, will plav Louka. The part of the Chocolate Soldier, Captain Bluntschli, will be presented by Air. J. W. G. Davidson, wlio is already well known to the public of Palmerston north. Air. A. 0. Edwards will play Sergius and can be relied upon to portray the role with distinction. Air. V. Christensen will play the important part of Alajor Petkoff, and the public is promised a treat in Air. Christensen’s performance. AD'. A. Zolirab will play Nicola, and Air. E. Seeker the Russian officer. The play is being produced by ATr. J. W. G. Davidson.
