Town’s Big Express Elevators

Giant express elevators carry most of the pedestrian traffic between the upper and lower sections of Bahia, Brazil. The whole business section of the city borders the bay, while the residential district is on top of a hill 195 ft. above. Engineors wero consulted, and, at thoir recommendation, the monumental LLa Cerda tower was built of reinforced concrete, 340 ft. high, and connected with a structure on top of the hill by a bridge.
