Lytton Street School Parents' Association

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Lytton Street School Parents’ Association was held on Monday night, Mr. A. C. McCorkindale presiding over a large attendance. Kcporting on the work of the association over the past 12 months, Mr. McCorkindalo said that members of the executive had met quarterly, the meetings being well attended, while keen interest had been sustained in the activities of the association. The mam source of revenue had been from social gatherings, which had been most successful. The major portion of the work in this connection had been undertaken by the ladies’ committee, and to them tiie success of the functions was due. Two bridge parties and a fancy dress ball had resulted in a net profit of £2O. which amount had been augmented by £9, the proceeds of a stall held on Par-, onts’ Day. As the Government had decided to discontinue the payment of subsidies on money raised for ground improvements, parents were asked to get, behind the association and give it all the financial support possible in order that the school might not suffer on this account. On Parents’ Day the school had been open to visitors, and an additional attraction was the athletic sport? meeting conducted during the afternoon, for which several cups had been obtained from the Herbert Smith Trust. Thanks were duo to parents who had so generously contributed to the success ot the association's work; to those ladies who had lent their homes for bridge parties; and to the press. Concluding, Mr. McCorkindalo recorded the association’s appreciation of the co-operation of members of the school committee and the teaching staff. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of just over £2.

Appreciation of tho services of the association was expressed by Mr. J. Penney, who spoke of.the value of the organisation to tho school committee. Mr. N. C. Harding voiced the thanks of the meeting to Mr. and Mrs. McCorkindalc, who had been foremost in tho activities of the association.

The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. K. At. Little; secretary, Air. W. C. W ilson. The old committee was re-elected, together with a number of new members, including all those present, numbering 25. It was decided to proceed with the arrangements for liolding a children’s fancy dress ball at an early date. Parents’'Day will be held this year ns usual, and the matter of conducting other gatherings for the purpose of raising funds was left to the committee.
