Heavy Entries of Sheep at Addington
PRICES FAIRLY WELL MAINTAINED. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Nignt. At: tho Addington market heavy entries of sheep were forward in all sections to-day and prices were fairly well maintained. Store lambs: Tlio bulk of a heavy entry was comprised of backward sorts. Good rape lambs improved in price. Good rapo lambs, 10s 6d, 12s lid; medium, 7s to 10s; ordinary m.s., 4s to 6s; backward, to 3s 6d; extra good ewes, 11s to 12s; medium, 7s to Ss; ordinary, to 6s 6d. Storo ewes: Good sound-mouthed ewes increased in value and other classes held recent rates, medium twotcoth three-quarterbred ewes, 14s lOd to 16s 6d; ordinary, 11s 6d; medium 4 and 6-th., three-quarterbred, I2s to 14s; ordinary 4 and 6-th. three-quar-terbred, to 11s Gd; good 6 and 8-th. 'three-quarterbred, to 14s; medium 6 and 8-th. three-quarterbred, 10s to 12s; good s.m. crossbred, to 10s; ordinary, 6s to 9s; good two-tooth halfbred, to 16s; medium, to .13s 6d; s.m. halfbred, 6s to 9s; s. and fail, halfbred, 3s 6d to 5s 6d; aged, Is to 3s; good 4 and 6-th. wethers, 11s 3d to 12s lOd; ordinary wethers, Ss to 10s.
Fat sheep: A heavy entry of 6500 head. Heavy sheep eased by up to a shilling a head, but other classes maintained late rates. Extra prime heavy wethers, to 19s lOd; primo heavy, 15s Ou to 17s; medium-weight, prime, 14s to 15s 3d; ordinary, .12s to 13s 9d; light, 9s 6d to 11s Gd; extra prime heavy ewes, to 15s 4d; prime, heavy, 11s Sd to 13s Od; medium-weight, prime, 8s 9d to 10s 6d; ordinary, 7s to Ss Od; light, 4s 9d to 6s 9d. Fat cattle: An average entry, the bulk very poor quality except for small proportion of prime. Values were back by 10s to 20s per head. Extra prime beef made 20s to 23s per lOOlbs.; good, 15s 6d to 19s; secondary, 12s to 15s; and rough down to Ss. Extra prime heavy steers to £ll 17s Gd; prime, heavy, £7 10s to £10; prime mediumweight, £5 to £7; ordinary quality, £3 10s to £4 15s; light, to £3 ss; extra prime heifers, to £S 2s 6d; prime, £5 to £6 10s; medium, £3 5s to £4 155;.light, £2 to £3; extra prime cows, to £7 17s 6d; prime, £4 10s to £6; medium, £2 10s to £4 ss; light, to £2 ss.
Fat pigs: The entry in both sections included a heavy proportion of overweights, particularly of baconcrs which sold at slightly lower rates. Good medium-weight porkers sold at advanced prices. Choppers, £2 to £4; baconcrs, 38s Od to 44s 6d; heavy baconcrs, 46s 6d. to 54s Gd; extra heavy baconcrs, 55s 6d to 60s Od (avciage price per lb., 3Jd to 41d); porkers, 32s to 35s Gd; heavy porkers, 36s 6d to 3Ss Gd (average price per lb., 5Jd to 6d).
