Aliss Doreen Tennant (Alartonj is visiting her parents, Air. and Airs. R. C. Tennant, Woodvillc. Airs. J. E. Parsons and Miss Dorothy' Parsons, who arc staying with Air and Airs. G. H. Bennett, 29 Roy street, will be leaving for England shortly. Air. and Airs. H. Doreen, of Argyle avenue, leave to-day on a visit to Wanganui where it is hoped tho change will benefit Airs. Doreen’s health. Owing to the death of Airs. A. J. Smith there will be no meeting of the Practice Bridge Club on Friday, April
The late Airs. Fanny Louisa Lucas, wife of Air. A. P. Lucas, of tho Nelson Alail directorate, whose death occurred last week, had been a resident of Nelson for over 50 years, and, with Air. Lucas, took a very keen and active interest in musical matters up to a few years ago. For about 30 years Airs. Lucas was a member of the Nelson Harmonic Society orchestra, playing the violin under Ambrose Aloore, Zimmerman, lxanke, Balling and Lcmmer. Willing assistance was also given in many other ways. At one time she was organist. of St. .John’s Church, and for a long period a member of the choir. Up to the time of her last, illness All's. Lucas maintained remarkable skill for her age at the piano. The late Airs. Lucas, who would have celebrated her golden wedding within two years, had been in failing health for some time and Uier death was not unexpected.
The funeral of the late Airs. Alary Mulrooncy took place on Tuesday afternoon, Requiem Mass being conducted by tho Very Rev. Monsigueur AlcAlanus at St. Patrick’s Church before the long cortege left for Terrace End cemetery. The service at tho graveside was conducted by Monsigueur AlcAlanus, assisted by Monsigueur Connolly and Fathers Doolaghty, Trolicy, Hcrliliy and Lore. Among the many beautiful wreaths were tributes from the following: Licensed Victuallers’ Association, Mr. and Airs. iSpillanc, Air. and Airs. I’. Purcell, Air. and Mrs. D. Evans and family, Airs. H. Wollerman, senr., Airs. H. Woileriiutn, junr., Air. and Airs. Aiurdie, Air .and Airs. A. J. AlcEyedy, Airs. P. Gmail and family, Air. F. Colvin, Airs. Kearns and daughter and from the nieces and nephews of deceased.
English newspapers announce the marriage on February 23 of Baroness Furnivall to Air. William Herbert Glieliey Dent. The ceremony was quietly celebrated at. Princes’ Row Registrar’s Office. The bride wore an azalea-pink ensemble, with a spray of orchids in her buttonhole. All'. Cecil Crocker and Air. J. D. Lcggo signed tho register. The bride was previously (he wife of Commander A, AV. G. Agar, V.C., D. 5.0., an officer of H.AI.S. Chatham, which arrived in Auckland in 1921. and formed the nucleus of the New Zealand Division of tho Royal Navy. Daughter of (ho 14th. baron, the bride will be remembered by those who knew her in Auckland as being very bright, vivacious and fond of all outdoor sport. The barony, which had been created in 1295, had fallen into abeyance, but was revived in her favour when she was a girl of about 13 years of age.
