Woodville

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Hockey. ..•The annual general meeting of the Woodville Hockey Club was held in the Cosy theatre on Monday evening, there being a fair attendance of members. The report and balance sheet for the past season were read and adopted. Office bearers for the ensuing season were elocted as follow:—Patron, Dr. P. H. Mules; president, Mr. W. A. Lyon; vice-presidents, Messrs E. G. Smith and H. Galbraith; hon. secretary, E. Harris; captain, W. Inkpen; vice-captain, S. Strand; selection committee: Messrs Inkpen, Strand and Teague. Subscriptions for the ensuing season were fixed at 4s per player. The matter of nomination of teams was held over until the next meeting. A number of resignations were received and it is anticipated that a new club will shortly ue .'formed.

Personal. Miss Esther James, who is on a walking’ tour of New Zealand for the purpose of advertising New Zealand-made goods, arrived in Woodville about five o’clock on Tuesday afternoon and was accorded a public welcome by his Worship the Mayor, Mr. J. Elder. Miss James, during the evening performance at the Cosy theatre, appeared on the stage and addressed tho audience, giving a brief but interesting outline of her journey as far as Woodville.
