Lyons loves Against Lang TO GRAB NEARLY £1,000,000 United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. CANBERRA, March 16. Received Wednesday, 10.15 p.m. CANBERRA, March 16. The clash between the Commonwealth and New South Wales Governments is rapidly nearing the climax. The Prime Minister (Mr. Lyons) in the Federal House of Representatives to-day moved a resolution under the Financial Agreement Enforcement Act giving the Commonwealth power to attach £924,082 from New South Wales revenue. The sources from which this may he obtained comprise any of the following:—lncome tax, betting and totalisator taxes, motor taxation, entertainment taxation and lottery receipts after the deduction of the prizes. Mr. Lyons told the House that sufficient to cover the New South Wales default in interest could he attached from the State income tax over the next eight weeks. He added that if the New South Wales Government maintained its present attitude it would default to the extent of £4,500,000 overseas interest by June 30, while the default in Australian interest would bring the total to £6,000,000. Mr. Lyons was subjected to violent interjections from the Labour Opposition. The resolution was agreed to and tho Senate is now debating it. TESTING ACT’S VALIDITY. Received Wednesday, 9.50 p.m. MELBOURNE, March 16. The full bench of the High Court of Australia will sit to-morrow to determine the validity of the Financial Agreement Enforcement Act. Application has been made by the New South Wales Government for an Injunction restraining the Commonwealth Government from enforcing the provisions of the Act, also asking for a declaration that the Act is ultra vires and invalid.

‘‘ This Muckraking ! ” HOW LANG TREATS SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS. Received Wednesday, 10.30 p.m. SYDNEY, March 16. In tho Assembly Premier Lang, answering Air. Kilpatrick, said ho had read the press reports of Mr. Stevens’s tin hare allegations and had asked the police to take the matter up and see whether anybody was attempting graft, bribery or corruption and if so to bring tho culprit to justice. Air. Ardill (Nationalist) asked: “Will the Premier table the papers?" The Premier replied “There are no papers in regard to this muckraking. I asked the Police Commissioner to see me and he promised to investigate the allegations." Colonel Campbell and the Police SYDNEY, March 16. Both Commissioner of Police Childs and the Police Officers’ Association have roplied to Colonel Eric Campbell’s (New Guard Leader) statement that Sergt. Clark was promoted for his activities in the Lane Cove case, denying his remarks. Mr Lyons Not a Patron HAS NOT PROMISED DEPORTATION OF COMMUNISTS. CANBERRA, Alarch 16. Air Lyons, the Federal Prime Alinister, in answer to questions in the House of Representatives, denied that ho had sought protection from the New Guard during the election campaign and had promised to introduce legislation to provide for the deportation of Communists.
