Mr. V. G. Wimsctt, formerly of the clerical staff of the Palmerston North railway station, has commenceu Sis duties as stationmaster at Eketalnma. His Honour Mr. Justice Frazer, with Messrs C. Prime and A. L. Monteith, of the Arbitration Court, left Palmerston North yesterday afternoon for Napier after a short sitting at this centre. Mr. C. P. McMcckan, a last year’s graduate of Massey College, has been appointed to tho College staff as assistant lecturer in the dairying department. He took up ills duties at the beginning of the term. At the annual meeting of St. Andrew’s Association Football Club a motion of sympathy >,.ts passeu witn the relatives of the late Mr. J. B. Cooper, who had been an esteemed officer of tho club.
The Eight Hon. Earl Beauchamp, exGovernor of New South Wales and a Liberal Peer in the House of Lords, arrived by the Maruma from Sydney this week. Earl Beauchamp is accompanied by Mr. G. H. Eoberts, and has come out to New Zealand on a health-recruit-ing trip.
The death is reported by press wire from Auckland of Brother Calixtus, director of the Marist Brothers’ school, and formerly of Invercargill anu Christchurch. Heath followed a stroke on his return from the swimming sports on Tuesday night. Brother Calixtus was a noted Eugby coach and had a brilliant scholastic record.
