Hilarious Brothers At “Monkey Business"
. Hilarious characterisations are contributed by the famous Marx Brother* in "Monkey Business,” coming to the Palace on Saturday week. The plot is comical and ingenious and the featured playeTS loose no opportunity in turning to account the many adroit situations that abound. A fcaturo of the production is the delightful music dispensed by Harpo, who wields a harp with magic fingers, while, not to be eclipsed, Chico extracts lilting melodies from the piano. "Monkey Business” engulfa the audience with laughter from the start. The scene opens on board a trans-Atlantic liner, where the four Marx brothers are discovered as stowaways. The culprits then make a beeline fox the safest place on tho ship—the captain’s cabin. Grouclio, with inimitable bluff, poses as the captain, runs the ship, cats tho captain’s breakfast, and, to cap all, accuses the captain of being a stowaway. But tho situation gets out of hand even for the quick-witted Groueho, who takes refuge in the cabin of a gangster and immediately makes love to the gangster’s wife. Complications ensue with breathless rapidity. Harpo and Chico impersonate the ship’s barbers with hilarious results. Further comedy is provided by the ruses of the miscreants to avoid the dull-witted ship’s mate, Gibson, who is out for their blood. When the ship arrives in port the newspaper men arrive to interview tho passengers. Groueho interviews tho newspapermen instead. The production ends on an appropriate note when the Marx brothers arc involved in a desperate battle with gangsters and rescue , a ■beautiful girl by comical subterfuges.
