CARNARVON SCHOOL PICNIC.

Tho Carnarvon school’s annual picnic was held at Tangimoana beach on Friday, February 12. It was a most cnenjoyablo day, the children indulged in races, a treasure hunt and paper bag racing, while games and swimming were indulged in by tho older members. The committee provided plenty of fruit and wished to thank Mr. C. V. Ciochetto for providing the ico cream, which was much appreciated by all, and also Mr. Aird for sweets provided. Tho ladies in charge of the luncheon and afternoon tea did all they could to make the function the success that it undoubtedly proved to be. Married ladies’ race was won by Mrs. J. Dixon 1, Mrs. H. E. Ficldhouso 2. Married men, Mr. W. Giles, 1, Mr. J. Dixon 2. Young ladies’ race was won by Miss T. R-oso 3, Miss P. Frecklington 2. Young men’s race was won by E, Ingram 1 and R. Ingram 2. Personal. Mr. D. Burno and Mr. P. Hansen, who havo been fishing at Taupo, have returned home. Miss W. Rose, of the Palmerston North hospital staff, has obtained her final examination and was visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Rose, ot Carnarvon, for tho week-end. Tho many friends of Mrs. P. Dixon, of Rongotea, will be pleased to learn that sho has returned homo after being an inmate of a convalescent home in Palmerston North. There is a slight improvement in her condition. Euchre Party. Tho first of a series of fortnightly euchre tournaments run under the auspices of the Anglican Church committee, was conducted in the Masonic hall on Tuesday evening. The winners of the prizes were: Mrs. W. S. Walker and Mr. T. Pitt.
