The Yacht Nahlin In Auckland Waters

Moored in the stream almost abreast of tho Naval Base, Lady Yule’s palatial steam yacht Nahlin attracted a great deal of attention on Sunday from thousands of peoplo ashore and afloat (states tho New Zealand Herald). Tho yacht arrived from Whangaroa at (3 p.m. on Saturday. She berthed at the Western wharf on Monday morning to take in oil fuel, and left for Tauranga next morning. After visiting the West Coast Sounds, tho Nahlin will return to Auckland on February 15 and is due back at Russell on February 20.

As sho lay at anchor on Sunday, tho yacht was viewed with admiration by passengers on tho Devonport ferry steamers, the captains of which reduced speed for a minute or two on some trips while passing her. People on the crowded excursion steamers also had a good view. Launches of all sizes inspected her, several making a complete circuit before their owners’ curiosity was satisfied.

The clipper bow and long counter ot the yacht and her graceful appearance generally were freely commented upon. The occupants of the small craft took a good deal of interest in her Keel Indian figurehead, and in the curious lines of her 30-lmot speed-boat as it hung from the davits. The spotless cream of her sides, the blue waterline, and shining brass rails and fittings appealed strongly to the yachtmen. Lady Yule and Miss Yule enjoyed a motor drivo in Auckland on Sunday. Their exact itinerary in New Zealand has not been xnado public, but it is believed that after swordfishing at Mayor Island they will visit Rotorua, make a brief stay at Taupo for trout-fishing, and proceed down the Wanganui river, rejoining the yacht at Wellington. It has been stated that the two ladies intend to make the overland journey to Milford Sound, where the Nahlin will await them, and that they will cruise among the most picturesque of the other sounds before returning to northern waters.
