Famous Singers Sing the Praises of “ City of Song"
During their recent tour of Australia, Messrs Peter Dawson and Mark Hanibourg attended a special pro-view screening of “City of Song,’’ and their enthusiastic opinions and recommendation of the picture can best bo expressed by these extracts from their own letters.— Mr. Peter Dawson: “I was very delighted with ‘The City of Song.’ Undoubtedly it is the crowning achievement of motion picture art, combining as it docs, sparkling wit and humour, melody and romance. The spoken word is very naturally recorded, and the singing is beautiful. There is not a dull moment.” Mr. Mark Hambourg: “ ‘The City of Song’ is the most perfect film production that it has been my pleasure to witness. Never before has such beautiful scenery, coupled with such delightful music, been set into such an absorbing story. The wonderful performance of Miss Betty Stockfiold, who, I understand, is an Australian girl, must be appreciated by everyone, and the comedian, Mr. Hugh Wakefield, whom I know personally, gives an excellent performance. The singing of Jan Kicpura ia a revelation.”
