Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The summer meeting of tho Wellington Pacing Club concluded on Saturday in lino weather, but a high northerly wind made matters unpleasant. The totalizator handled £32,201, as against £4.7,050 for the third day last year and the total for the meeting was £103,193, as compared with £129,194. Arena was first on to the course proper, with Clangor, Princess 8011, Copper King, Gaiue Carrington and La Moderno uext. Gaino Carrington finished on well enough to win by a. bead from Silver Ring, who, however, was only a head away at. the winning post and was somewhat unlucky to lose. Copper King was only halt; a head away in third place and Arena was fourth. Headlady, Princess Bell and Mister Quex followed.
Great Finish. There was a great finish in the Melrose Handicap, lor which the favourites were Grecian Prince, Emotion and Sailor's Love. Niggcrhead and Benign led to the straight from Lyrical, Trek, Grecian Prince and Alpinist and in a, close finish Trek got up to win by a head from St. Roger, with Niggcrhead only half a head away third and Emotion a close fourth. After theso carno Anemometer, bait pot, Grecian Prince and Capetown. Saltpot finished well from a long way back, but Grecian Prince did not run on at all solidly.
Black Duke Scores. The Summer Handicap was a great betting race, with even the favourite, Admiral Drake, paying a good price. As soon as the field passed the mile post Arrow Lad went to tho front and he led all the way to tho straight from Great .Star, Nea Lap and Admiral Drake, with Black Duke in the middle of the field and Joie de Val well back. The, issue was .in doubt nearly all the way down the straight, but at tho finish Black Duke drew out to win by a good half-length from Joic do Val, with Nea Lap only half a. length away third and Great Star fourth. Admiral Drake though fifth, was quite handy to the placed horses, and Arrow Lad and Royal Love were next. Had Joie de Val come'on the scene sooner she would have won.

Astray Again, Bettors were astray again in tho Thorndou Handicap in which Adelphi, who was neglected on the totalizator, won after a close finish, Silvermine

THE LAST DAY, STILL HARD AT TRENTHAM, BUT GOOD RACING. (Special to Times,) Though the weather was fine for the last, day at Trenthnm again surprises, were the rule. Highweight Event. In a. good spread of betting Appledore wound up favourite tho Wallacevillo Highweight Handicap, and after running a fair race failed to iun up to expectations. Countermarch made the running to the straight, from Babel, who ran her down in the last furlong and won by half a head. Royal Limond finished on nicely in third place a couple of lengths away and the, next lo finish were Kalm.uk. Appledore and Banbridge., Some of the competitors lost their chances through allowing the leaders to get. too far away. Retract Again, Retract won the Kelburn Handicap vc-ry easily, after being a long way back half-way through the race. Grand Lahu, Oratorian, Winsome Hind, Tigerism and Locksley led into the straight with Retract coming fast on the outer. Retract soon placed the issue beyond doubt, and won as he liked by a length and a-half from Foghorn, who finished fairly w : ell, while Flower was third and Locksley and Landmark next. Foghorn paid a great dividend for running second,

was favourite, and everything else was paying a good price. Silvermine was always well placed, and followed Chief Cook, and Adelphi info the straight. He finished on well, and was a shade unlucky to lose, but ho faded a little in tho "last twenty yards. Adelphi won by half a length from Ball Dress, with Teller a head away third and Silvermine fourth. Tcpwelgiit’s Success, Cadland won the City'Handicap in good style. He was handy as the field came on to the course proper and in the run to the judge ho won by half a length from Autopdy with Great Charter two lengths away third and Leisure fourth.
The End. The Kaitoke Handicap, the final event- of the meeting, was won in good style by Araunah, who finished fast to beat Miladi a, length, with Beacon Fire a. good third and Haulbowline fourth, St, Roger following,
