Professor G. S. Peren, Mrs. Percn and family left yesterday for a holiday at Paraparaumu.
Miss Molly Townsend, who recently arrived from tho Old Country to join Miss Margaret Stock, is the guest of Mrs. Stock, fiongopai street.
Airs W. R. Wilson, Chief commissioner, New Zealand Girl Guides, has been notified by Lord Baden-Powell that sho has been elected as a member of the Imperial Council of the Girl Guides’ Association.
The engagement is announced in an exchange, of Rosalind Alostyn, only daughter of Air and Airs Alostyn InnesJones, of To Kuiti, to Roland Studholme, fourth son of Air and Mrs J. AI. Barker, of Waihi, Woodbury, South Canterbury.
Mrs. S. E. Willetts, who claims to bo tho oldest surviving white woman born in Auckland, recently attained tho ago of 88 years. She was formerly Miss McQuoid, and her father lived to the age of 95 years. Airs ’Willetts was born near the Epsom windmill, now dismantled, and was one of tho first scholars at. St. Andrew’s Anglican Sunday School. She was christened at old St. Paul’s Church, at tho top of Shortland Street. At that time the vestry book was the only register kept of biTths, deaths and marriages in Auckland. Miss AlcQuid’s first husband was Sergeant Richard Blackwell, of the 58th Regiment. When, in ISSB, the regiment was ordered from New Zealand to India, 300 of tho men bought their discharge, Sergeant Blackwell being one. In the same year ho married Miss AlcQuoid, and they went to live at Clcvedon, then known as Southern Wairoa. To get to tho place it uas necessary to take Cobb and Son’s bus to Papatoetoe, and then tramp across the hills.
