Renovating Stained Floors

Floors that are finished with a varnish stain quickly become shabby and before they can be renovated tho varnished surface must be entirely removed. Tho boards should bo treated with a strong solution of hot soda-water. Allow it time to soak in, then give a vigorous scrubbing, working with the grain. Finally rinse with clean warm water. If patches of varnish still remain, rub them down with fine sandpaper. Methylated spirits will remove any traco of varnish, that clings to t-hc wood, but, of course, this treatment is more expensive. When the floor is finally quite clean and dry, another floor stain may be applied.
