MANAWATTJ v. KILBIRNIB.

A one-day match between a team representing Manawatu and a Kilbirnie eleven was commenced at the Kilbirnie Recreation Ground yesterday morning. Manawatu were the first to bat. llo]7. and Ollivcr were the opening pair. 01livcr did not last long, and was quickly followed by Monkliousc and Galliclian. Holz was harder to shift. He stood up to the bowling well, and made some good strokes. Tho score mounted fairly quickly when he was associated with Lang. llolz, after making a most useful 54, was bowled by Kershaw. After Lang was caught behind the stumps, Onglcy and Hatch advanced the score. The first 100 runs came up after 90 minutes’ play. Wriglcy, in his first over, shortly before the luncheon adjournment, bowled Hatch, who had compiled 3S in good time. Robertson joined Onglcy. The Manawatu B representatives played a one-day match with Horowhenua B at Levin yesterday and won by 20 runs on tho first innings. Batting first, the home side made 181, Baumber (45) and Hallamoro (40) doing well with the bat. Manawatu replied with a total of 201, Hollier contributing 51, Spring 30 and Milieu 24. Horowhenua declared their second innings closed with one wicket down for 175, Baumber being 88 not out and Phillips 77 not. out. When stumps were drawn at 7 p.m. Manawatu had lost two wickets for 112, tho run-getters being Cottier (49, not out) and Eglinton (22, not out). It is definitely announced that the South African cricketers will play the Test match versus New Zealand at Lancaster Park on February 27 and 59, and March 1. There will probably be a match in Wellington afterwards, but this is uncertain. The official itinerary for the South Africans was announced to-day as follows: — February 23: Arrive at Auckland and play Auckland same day. February 27, 29 and March 1: Threeday match against New Zealand at Christchurch. March 4, 5 and 7: Against New Zealand at AVellington. All the members are coming except A’an der Merwe and Stcyn.
