Good Progress Made On Opening Day

■With 150 entries, tho Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association's annual tournament, open to members of affiliated clubs, was commenced at tho Linton street courts yesterday in beautiful weather. Good progress was made in tho various events, several being advanced to the semi-final stage. . The management left no room for criticism and was commended on all sides. Ihc secretarial work was capably carried out by Mr. E. J. Norris, who was assisted by Messrs. It. McMurray, T. B. Worrall, F. McLachlan and A. M. Robinson. Tho rcfcrco was Mr. 11. N. Watson. . , . Tho tournament will be concluded today, and players arc requested, except where other arrangements have been made, to be on the courts as soon after 11 a.m. as possible.
