Troops at Manresa have been ordered to secure tho immediate suppression of tho revolt. Discontent is widespread, following the Government's anti-religious measures, while Communists are planning generally a revolutionary strike and circulated a forged manifesto purporting to emanate from tlie Workers’ Confederation, thereby hoping to trick the Monarchists to suppress the strike, The Confederation has warned members to ignore the order. Telegraphs and telephones are dislocated. A well-filled dynamite store at Navascues was bombed by Communists who cut tho railway and derailed a train. Many casualties resulted. There was renewed fighting at Barcelona with attacks directed at Catholic headquarters. There were numerals casualties. Meanwhile, Monarchist municipal officials of Basque provinces are clapping Republicans in gaol, ’PLANES ASSIST TROOPS. Received Friday, 7.5 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 22. The Times Madrid correspondent says that aeroplanes were ordered to assist troops to suppress a rebellion believed to involve 50,000 in the Manrese region. It is revealed Cabinet expected a general strike on Monday, aiming at the overthrow of the Republic.

STRIKERS ARRESTED. Received Friday, 7.15 p.m. BARCELONA, Jan. 22. The police at midnight raided tho Tracies Union headquarters and arrested members discussing a proposed general strike. They also raided a cafe known to be a centre for revolutionaries. There were sixty arrests.

PORTUGAL ALSO AFFECTED. San Francisco Press Broadcast. LISBON, Jan. 22. After a labour disturbance here in which live persons were wounded and twenty arrested, authorities tonight said Portuguese labour organisations, emulating Extremists in Spain, would declare a general strike next Monday., ORDER RESTORED. Received Saturday, 12.55 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 22. A Barcelona message states that order has been restored at Manresa, Berga and elsewhere.
