Honolulu Stages Further Crime
POLICE GOADED TO EXTREME EFFORTS. San Francisco Press Broadcast. HONOLULU, Jan. 21. A new attack upon a woman, goad ing the police into an extreme effort to run down a desperate criminal, reddened tho crime picture in Honolulu to-day. Mrs. Toka Okazaki, 29, a Japanese, reported a gunman had overpowered he* escort and attacked and robbed her on tho outskirts of the town last night. Mrs. Okazaki identified a photograph of Daniel Lyman, escaped convict, as her attacker.
Police were ordered to shoot Lyman if he resisted capture. A legal move to free Mrs. Granville Forteseuo and throe navy men of a Polico Court complaint charging them with the murder of Joseph Kahahiwai was made here to-day. At tho same time tho Territorial Legislature advanced its programme to clean up Hawaii. Invoking Constitutional grounds defence attorney Montgomery .Winn filed a motion in the Circuit Court asking for dismissal of the mur-' dor complaint against Mrs. I'ortescue, Lt. Thomas A. Massie, E. J. Lord and Albert Jones.
