HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY A committee meeting of the Woodville Horticultural Society was held on Monday evening. Arrangements in connection with tho autumn show were finalised, and several recommendations for additions to tho schcdulo were adopted. It was also decided that a woodwork section be added to tho children’s classes. The following stewards wero appointed: Reception, Messrs. Hewlett, Phelan, Hurley and Finer; receiving exhibits, Messrs. Beattie, Horne, Grinlinton, A. Beattio and Onslow; fruit and vegetables, Messrs. L. Walker and O. Morris. Judges for the different sections were selected and will bo finally appointed at the next meeting.

BOWLING The Woodvillc Bowling Club played an inter-club match against Pahiatua at Paliiatua on Wednesday, tho home side winning by 104 to S 9. Following arc the results, Woodvillc rinks being mentioned first: Bibby, Rawson, Galbraith, Aim (s.) lost to Walker, Arrow, Hunter, Hodd (s.) .12 —23; Tcnnent, Forbes, James, Mules (s.) beat Chambers, W. Lett, Pcthcrick, Walsh (s.) 27 —16; Nelson, Cotter, Spackman, Nicholas (s.) lost to Moore, Stack, E. Britland, McSherry (s.) 1-4 —19; South, J. Morgan, Norman, Grinlinton (s.) beat Ransom, Mills, Russell, F. Britland (s.) 19 -—l7; J. Grinlinton, It. Mo:—an, Henderson, Curry (s.) lost, to Poilington, Barrett,.Murphy, Duncan (s.) 16 —28. A challenge match for tho Gosling Stars was also played and resulted in a win for tho holders (Pahiatua). McLachlan, Offwood, McCormick, Bly (s.) lost to Petersen, Walsh, E. Lett, Kershaw (s.) 13 —25. Two rinks will journey to Pahiatua to-day to play for the Oxley Cup, the following players representing tho club: James, Eawson, Grinlinton, Mules (s.); Norman, McCormick, Curry, Aim (s.).

On Saturday an inter-club match will bo played against Terraco End on the Woodvillo green.
