A correspondent in a motor journal assures his readers that tho following are the usual charges in the French courts for committing offences: —For exceeding the speed limit, 0 francs; driving a ear with an open exhaust, 5 francs; having no lights, 3 francs; driviao. a car without possessing a driving licence, 5 francs; not sounding tho horn when approaching dangerous crossroads, 3 francs; for driving against the one-way traffic signs, 3 francs; and for obstruction, 2 francs. As tho franc is only worth twopence, it is possible t-j disregard the whole of tho French traffic code at a total cost of about ss.
