THE TIMING APPARATUS.
This photograph gives a glimpse of the special timingapparatus which is to be used in connection with the attempt by “Wizard” Smith on the world’s land speed record next month. The device sends a tiny beam of light across the race track and when the car cuts through the beam a recording machine is set in motion which ticks off the split seconds on a tape.
