Mrs. Hodgkinson has returned to Waipukurau after a visit to Colyton.

Miss Joll, Hawcra, has been on a visit to her sister, Mrs. McQuin, Kimbolton road, Feilding.

Mrs. Oswin, of Wellington, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. C. A. J. Levett, Ranfurly avenue, Feilding.

Miss Phylis 3 Northcott, of Colyton, has returned homo after two months' holiday spent in Nielson.

Mrs. McGeorgo, of Dunedin, who has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. Murray, College House, North street, left on her return to the south on Wednesday.

The many friends of Mrs. W. T. Royal will be glad to learn that sho has returned homo from hospital and i 3 making good progress towards recovery from hor recent illness.

The engagement has been announced of Clarisa, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. 0. Batchclar, Palmerston North, to William W. Whiteman, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Whiteman, of Argentine, lato South Africa and England.

Miss A. Patrick, Director of Plunket Nursing (Dunedin), was a visitor to Palmerston North yesterday and paid an informal call on the Plunket nurses at the Plunket rooms in King street. Miss Patrick proceeded to Wanganui last evening.

Writing in August, a London correspondent stated: “Miss Nellie M, Seanlan is busily engaged in loading tho proofs of hor second' novel. This task completed, she will leave for a tour of Norway and Russia. She hopes to leave London in a fortnight’s time.”

The death occurred at her residence in Cartorton, on Tuesday, of Mrs. Catherine Gorman, widow of the late Mr. John Gorman, and a very old resident of the district. The late Mrs. Gorman was born in Tipperary, Ireland, in 1844, and came to New Zealand 56 years ago. Sho leaves two daughters, Miss Johnnna Gorman (Carterton) and Mrs. Richs.rdson (Kimbolton), and ono son, Mr. James Gorman (Carterton).
