Wellington Wins College Rugby Tourney

NELSON RUNNERS-UP Por Press Association. WANGANUI, Last Night. Wellington College won tho intcr-Col-lcgo Rugby tourney here to-day, defeating Wanganui Colicgiato School by 28 to 14. Nelson by defeating Christ’s College by seven to threo were entitled to tho position of runners-up. Wellington gained two wins, Nelson a win and a loss and Christ’s and Wanganui a draw and a loss each. Nelson owed their victory to a dropkicked goal by Richards who camo up from, the custodianship to live-eighths, replacing Karsten who was unable to play. Spence scored tho opening try which Arthur was unable to convert. — Christ’s College 3, Nelson nil, this being the score at half time. Richards drop-kicked tho goal midway through tho second half, putting Nelson a point in tho lead. McArthur made a nice opening to send Watson and Rowe uw r ay, the last-named scoring and tho game ended shortly after with tho scores standing 7—3 in favour of Nelson. Though tho scores in the big match ■were decidedly in favour of Wellington, Wanganui put up a much better showing than indicated. Wanganui held the Wellington forwaids for most of the first spell and a portion of the second, losing their condition towards tho last. Wanganui scored first, Bunny goalmg from a penalty. Watt scored a brilliant try for Wellington to equalise and a little later O’Loughlin kicked a penalty putting Wellington three points ahead. Kirkcaldie scored later and the teams were level again. Cover cut through to score a try near the posts which Bunny converted. Wanganui 11, Wellington 0. O’Loughlin kicked another penalty goal, making the score at half time 11 to 11 in favour of Wanganui.

In the second spell O’Loughlin scored two moro tics, converted two and kicked a penalty. Sadler and Watt also scored a try each, these players putting Wellington up to tho total of 2S. Payton scored -nothcr try from the home school and the game finished 28 to 14 in favour of Wellington.
