The many friends of Mr. W. H. Nixon, of Milson line, will learn with regret that lie has been compelled to enter hospital. The many friends of Mr W. At the meeting of the High Schools Board of Governors and Technical School Committee last evening a vote of sympathy was passed with Mr. J. W. Rutherford, who is in hospital at present, and hope was expressed for his speedy recovery. A Rugby wireless message states that Mr. Lloyd George has made such good progress following his recent serious operation that it is hoped to movo him from his London home to his residence at Churt, Surrey, before the week-end. After a short stay at Churt he will probably go to North Wales. At the annual conference of the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation, Mr. J. T. Spears (Wellington) was unanimously elected president for the ensuing year, Mr. F. Campbell was elected vice-president, Mr. R. T. M. Edmonds secretary, Mr. E. R. Render treasurer, and Mr. F. W. Vosseler auditor. The executive will be in Wellington for the ensuing year. At this week's meeting of the Wanganui Education Board a motion of condolence with the widow and family of the late Mr C. H. Warden was carried in silence and members paid great tributes to the deceased gentlemen’s capabilities us a teacher and character builder. The speakers were the chnirmau (Mr W. A. Collins), Mr W. Adams. Mr W. G. Blackie (Chief inspector) and Mr W. H. Swangcr (Secrctary). The death of Mr. G. Turfrcy at Palmerston North on Sunday brought to a close an association with the Dominion which had extended over 57 years. Tho deceased claimed Oxford, England, as his birthplace, and it was as a lad of nine years that he accompanied his parents oversoas. In addition to his widow there arc left to mouru their loss one son, Mr. Reeve Turfrey, of Palmerston North, and two daughters, Mrs. G. R. Pevrcal, of Park Toad, Palmerston North, and Mrs. I. G. Ballard, of Drury, Auckland. There are also four grandchildren.
