Further Damage by Gales in England

STORM SWEPT BRITAIN (British Official Wireless.) Received Wednesday, 5.5 p.m. RUGBY, Aug. 18. Tho heavy gales around the English coasts did great damago yesterday. Beach equipment was wrecked at a large number of seaside resorts. 'Tho Sussex coast was swept by heavy seas and at Winehelsca beach, buildings were flooded and wrecked. The lowlying area was threatened with an extensive innundation but tho wind and seas abated beforo high tide early this morning. Great damago was done to the promenade in course of construction at Fleetwood. At Barmough where tho new sea defences were partially completed, damago is estimated at £3OOO. Heavy rain fell again yesterday in many parts of the country causing floods and landslides in North England while in Scotland and Wales there are manv acres flooded.
