“May Have to Wait for Ages”

MISS COPPLESTONE DELAYED BY CHANNEL WEATHER.

United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. LONDON, Aug. 14. Miss Lily Copplestono, the New Zealand swimmer, sent a letter to the Australian Press Association, from Gris Nez, on the French side of the Straits of Dover, stating that she had not abandoned her attempt to swim across, but that Channel swimming seemed to be a game of patience. “I have waited for suitable weather since the end of July,” Miss Copplestone wrote, “and I may have to wait for ages yet.” A Londoner, Mrs Coleman, will be tbe first of a dozen aspirants to start, and Miss Copplestone will be the next.
