Mr. E. Glover Clarke has been selected as the Reform candidate for Eden to oppose Eton. A. J. Stallworthy.
Mr. G. Childs, of Lombard street, Palmerston North, a well-known hockey enthusiast and coach of the Palmerston North Central Old Boys' Club, was suddenly taken seriously ill on Saturday afternoon and was admitted to the Public hospital, where his condition, late Inst evening, was still reported to be the same. Just prior to the commencement of the hockey game, Pirates versus Wanderers, at Peilding, Mr. Childs was taken ill and, accordingly, the match was postponed.
