The total of deaths under one year of ago registered in England and Wales during 1930 was 38,905, equivalent to an infant mortality rate of 60 per 1000 live births.
A recent census of the homeless of London showed that .60 men and IS women were living in the streets, 14,970 people were found in licensed common lodging houses, and 1057 men, 137 women, and 17 children in shelters and labour homes not licensed as lodging houses.
