Make New Zealand Self-Supporting

MR. R. SEMPLE, M.P.

ADVISES FEILDING AUDIENCE

A moderate crowd gathered in Manchester Square, Feilding, oil Saturday evening to listen to an address deliveied by Mr. K. Semple, M.P., who visited the town at the invitation of the New Zealand Labour party. The theme of the speaker’s address was the need ioi New Zealand to become self supporting and to back this view Mr. Semple cited how world conditions were influencing the economic condition of this country. While advocating that New Zealand should lose no time in fostering every possiblo local industry with the ultimate object of utilising all the available man power, he also urged that there was room for developing our primary industries and the application of more scientific methods in marketing the produce of tho country. The speaker was accorded an attentive hearing and at tho conclusion of his address was accorded a vote of thanks.

On Sunday evening Mr. Semple, assisted by Miss Semple, delivered an address on “The Horrors of War.”
