Arrival at Rome
LEAVING FOR LONDON LAST NIGHT.
ROME, Aug. 5. Mollison arrived, and leaves for London at 11 o’clock to-night. Nearing London Received Friday, 2 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 6. Mollison arrived at the Le Bourget aerodrome, Paris, at 11.10, and departed at 11.40 for Croydon. How He Left Australia AVYNDHAM, July SO. Thirty-five persons were present to witness Mr J. / Mollison’s departure at 1 o’clock this morning on his solo flight to England. The engine started easily, Mollison listening carefully while it was warming up. Flares were lighted to show the limits of the ground. Mollison appeared supremely confident, voicing his intention of reaching Engla d in seven days; and he was in high spirits while saying “goodbye” to his well-wishers. Starting from the western end of the ground, Mollison turned the ’plane eastward, and took off after a short run.
After flying about three miles eastw C, he circled and, flying very low over r-r spectators, headed out over Cambridge Gulf. In the bright moonlight the ’plane was visible for some distance, flying north.
Chichester Makes for Shanghai To-day
TOKIO, Aug. 5,
Chichester, on being interviewed, stated that he was delayed owing to slight damage to a float, lie is leaving Formosa for Shanghai at seven o’clock tomorrow morning.
