Scnor Victor Braun, of Valparaiso, is visiting Palmerston North and is the guest of Air. and Mrs. W; Moffatt, of Awapuni. A Gazette issued last night contains tho following announcements: —Lieutenant Colonel I. T. fcitandish to be Adjutant and Quartermaster-General, General Headquarters; Lieutenant Col oncl L. M. Inglis, from the reserve of officers, to be Colonel and is appointed to command the Third New Zealand Infantry Brigade. The following officers of the Manawatu Racing Ciub retire, but are eligible for re-election:—President, Mr, 0. Louisson; vice-presidents, Messrs. K. S. Abraham and P. W. Mcßae; lion, treasurer, Mr. G. C. Ivccblc; members of committee, Messrs. L. A. Abraham, L. 11. Collinson, H. E. Cooper and J. A. Nash.
Sir Charles Statham, Speaker of the House, has become an honorary life fellow of the International Accountants' Corporation and Bookkeepers* Institute, Inc., head office of which is in jieiljourne. lie is also president ot the New Zealand executive council and will preside at the first annual meeting to be held in Wellington on August 29, 1031.
