ON RIOCARTON TRACK. • SOME INTERESTING WORK. GALLOP BY SINGLETON The weather was line but cold during training hours at Eiccarton on Saturday morning. Tho inside of the trial grass track was in good order, though a trifle show. There were plenty ot horses out, but proceedings were not very exciting. In anticipation of some jumping, there was a large attendance of spectators, but it was a disappointing morning for them. Some useful gallops Avero registered on the flat, but there was no outstanding performance. Night Recital sprinted half a mile in 52 4-ssec: Owlsflight and Sailor's Love Avcrc associated over seven furlongs. They finished together in 1.35 3-5,' but they wero not ridden out. Kakara was given a Avorking gallop over six furlongs on the No. 7 track. Straiglitcourso and Biri .were companions over seven furlongs, doing the first three in 38 3-ssce, aud completing their task in 1.33, Avith nothing between them. Both theso horses look Avell. True Shaft and Tarquinius occupied 1.6 3-5 for five furlongs, but they were uot ridden out at the finish. Slcipnor covered six furlongs by himself in 1.22 2-5. He is very forward for early racing. East Passage led Babel over six furlongs, but the time avus sloav, tho lasthalf mile taking 55 3-sscc. The Bailiff strode out freely while doing seven furlongs in 1.32 2-5. lloa was given a working gallop by himself over seven furlongs. Belvoir Goes Smartly. Bclvoir broke away in front of Moorbird from tho five furlong post and finished with a length advantage, doing the full distance in 1.5 3-5, and the last halt mile in 52scc. This avus a smart gallop. Good Catch and Decisive dashed over half a mile up the back in 49 3-sscc. Nightguard aud Water Polo Averc not bustled at the end of six furlongs, run in 1.22. Bose of Orange led Martian Chief in an easy half mile sprint, which occupied 55scc. Rascal and Starshootcr covered six furlongs in- 1.21, keeping close cocpany all tho Avay. Jason’s Quest aud Shatter Avcre on terms after taking 1.6 3-5 fur five furlongs. Limited rvas given a short sprinting task and Avent.vory freely. Juniper Avorked on the No. 7 track, doing six furlongs in 1.21. Itoyal Love and Gay Crest Avcrc companions in a mile gallop, running the first half mile in 52sec, and the full journey in 1.4-1 2-5. They Avcre together most of the way, hut. Royal Love drcAV out gradually over the final furlong, finishing a length in front. It was a very attractive gallop, draAving attention to tho excellent prospects of Royal Love in open company this season.

Grecian Prince Pit. Grecian Prince, jumping out in front, led Sharp Thorn throughout a five furlong spin along the back, the time being 1.5. Grecian Prince is coming on nicely aud he should be useful this season. Irish Chieftain and Chief Light registered 51sce for half a mile aioiig the back. Ringing Cheer and Dunraveu Avcre companions over seven furlongs, which they covered iu 1.32 3-5. Tho former skoAved too much pace for his mate in the early stages, but Dunraveu appeared to be going the better of the pair at tho finish. Arikiwai went off slowly from the seven furlong mark and, after taking ■Msec for three furlongs, Avas picked up by Autumn Bird, the pair running home the last half mile in 53 3-sscc. Pixie Gold and Pansopky occupied 1.7 for five furlongs, doing the last half mile iu 53scc. Amorist covered a mile in 1.50, going at an even pace all tho way. Sohvit and Nightflyer were companions over six furlongs in 1.22 1-5. Storm Raid (R. Beale) gave a dashing display iu a school over four hurdles. Dark Prince Woll. Dark Prince Avas given a working gallop over a. mile and a quarter, taking 1,54 for the last mile. He looks in capital order for cross country engagements. Desert Song and The Quorn Avcre.companions in useful Avork over half a mile. On Top and Eanclagk- occupied 1.34 3-5 for seven furlongs. Earthquake beat Jael over half a mile along tho back iu 51 2-ssec, NoteAvorlhy covering the same ground alone in 51 l-ssce. Wako King and Singleton covered a mile in 1.52 3-5, Avhilc Wiltshire and Luccess took 1.54 1-5 for a similar task. Paris and Apache Avcrc togothor, iu front of Cossack Chief, at. the end of seven furlongs in 1.38 3-5. High Pitch was not doing his best at the end of seven furlongs, run in 1.35 3-5. Channelise sprinted half a mile-along the back in 5U 2-s,sec. . She looks in the best of health after her recent racing. Great Star, assisted over the last six furlongs by Gold Mint, took 1.47 for a mile, but could havo done better. Quantum and Prince Lu ran live furlongs together in L 6 1-5.
