Won by a length and three-quarters, half a length between second and third. Time, 1.40.
Matu is among the entries for tho Great Northern Steeplechase. He ran second in the Grand National Steeplechase a couple of seasons ago and last year contested the Great Northern, finishing fourth to Aurora Borealis, Omeo and Odin. Subsequently he won tho July Steeplechase at Wellington and finished third in the Beaufort Steeplechase at the last Grand National meeting. Ho failed in the Lincoln Steeplechase at tho same meeting, but has not raced since.
