Damage to Port Hobart

CERTIFICATE OF SEAWORTHINESS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A preliminary inquiry was held by the Superintendent of tho Mercantile Marine to-day into the cause of the mishap to the motor liner Port Hobart through striking a submerged object off Taurakirao Head, but no report was available to-day. The vessel has been given a certificate of seaworthiness, and having completed her discharge here she leaves to-morrow for New Plymouth. Sho will then proceed to Port Chalmers dry dock, later returning to New Plymouth to start her Homeward loading. The report of the diver shows that considerable damage was done to tiie plates and the starboard propeller. A general average has been declared over the vessel’s cargo.
