AUTUMN HANDICAP TO STRAIGHTCQURSE. DAINTY WAYS SCORES IN THE TAUHERENIKAU. Per Press Association. MASTERTON, Last Night. The Wairarapa races concluded today at Tauherenikau in dull weather. There was a fair attendance and the track • was good. The tote handled £11,200 10s, us against £27,217 on Easter Monday last year. The total was £27,281, as against £50,284. Portray led the field from the start but before entering tho straight Tonterden took charge and although Reremoana made a good run from tho rear ho had no chance with the winnor, who won by four lengths. There was half a length between second and third. False Scent and Lucretia. Rotation won all out by a clear length from Lucretia which was a nock in front of Ephialtes. Straight-course gradually went away to win by three lengths, AVhitc Fang getting up to beat Stanchion by a length. Atholspear was fourth. Ridden out Distortion looked a winner, but Eichborough hung on gamely arid they crossed the line togothcr. Child’s Study was two lengths back third. Tobaceoland had no cliance with Dainty AA’ays, who camo with a wet sail in the straight to win easily by two lengths, a similar distance separating the second and third horses.
