Visitors Flocking to Napier
ADMIRATION FOR PROGRESS w restoration. <■ Per Press Association. f’fl NAPIER, April 4.1 Napier is indeed thankful that terday’s storm did not include ta ’quake-damaged town. Yesterday was fine, but rain started this morning, 11 points falling before daylight, thd weather then brightening. 1 Many visitors inspected the ’quake! damage yesterday, strange cars full of] spectators being present in dozens. Incoming trains were delayed by the heavy rain. The chief comment of the visitors, who included many who knew the old Napier well, was one of gratification at the wonderful progress made towards restoration in the face of difficulties. The community shops in Clive Square and Memorial Square were much admired, in their semi-tropical sotting of palms. Yesterday, which was a holiday for shops, saw many artisans busy, as usual, all over the city. It appears that, residents are not content to rest, till the city regains its normal conditions. Many women and children are still returning.
